Harley Quinn is a hot commodity these days, with the character featuring prominently in Birds of Prey to the point where the movie is essentially a Harley Quinn movie in all but name. While that movie’s marketing is slowly ramping up, DC is also quick to remind us that they’re creating an adult oriented Harley Quinn animated series, appropriately titled Harley Quinn. The series was announced at last year’s Comic Con with a tentative Fall 2019 release date. Now, we finally have a release date.
Harley Quinn will release exclusively on DC Universe on November 29, 2019, though it isn’t clear yet how the series will be released. Some series on DC Universe, like Titans, Doom Patrol, and Swamp Thing, have all had a serialized release schedules with one episode streaming every week. Other shows, like Young Justice: Outsiders, have released multiple episodes in small batches that were spread out over the course of several months. DC hasn’t specified which approach they’ll be taking in releasing the series.
Harley Quinn artist Amanda Connor also revealed some exclusive production artwork for the series, which you should honestly check out because hot damn is it some good looking art. I always appreciate some good artwork and when it comes to DC, Connor is one of the best around. If you’re in the New York area, there’s also a pop up Harley Quinn gallery at the DCU HQ which features artwork from various different artists as well as props from the upcoming Birds of Prey movie. It’s essentially a giant shrine dedicated to Harley Quinn that isn’t a Hot Topic, though I have to admit that seeing original design sketches of the character from Batman the Animated Series was very nice indeed.
We’ll have more coverage on Harley Quinn as more footage is revealed over the course of New York Comic Con.
