By Just minutes ago, Disney confirmed the rumors that Ewan McGregor would be returning to the Star Wars series. A prequel show based on Obi-Wan Kenobi will be coming to Disney+, Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy told attendees at the D23 Expo. Scripts for the series have already been written and filming will start early next year.
McGregor has been up for the opportunity for quite a while. Being the standpoint actor of the entire prequel trilogy (and possibly the only redeeming quality of it), I don’t object to this. McGregor’s personal life might be a bit troublesome, but the man has chops and delivered a solid performance for the mysterious Jedi master. Hopefully, he can live up to his own legacy.
