By …What? After a vote by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, Ricky Gervais will be returning to host the 2012 Golden Globes awards. This is particularly crazy since not only did Gervais just host the show last year, but his relatively racy jokes and monologue ended up offending a whole bunch of upper-crust Hollywood types and causing a kerfuffle.
I just don’t understand this decision. According to Variety, Gervais even had to be convinced to agree to the gig, so I can’t help but wonder why the Globes producers wanted him back so badly? Maybe they’re going to censor him more closely this time? I don’t know, but you know who would make an amazing Golden Globes host? The Muppets. End of story.
