It was with great excitement that Marvel fans learned of the upcoming Moon Knight series, set to hit Disney+ alongside a slew of other new entries in the ever-expanding MCU, as well as the rumors of Oscar Isaac being cast in the titular role. Recent comments from the production would indicate that Isaac’s involvement is rumor no more.
Moon Knight series cinematographer Gregory Middleton commented on his Instagram account that he was indeed set to work on the series, which is rumored to begin shooting in March. Middleton joked about the character’s iconic white costume being a tricky endeavor for a cinematographer, but recovered by praising Oscar Isaac as an “amazing performer.” Cat’s out of the bag then, it seems.
Isaac had been in negotiations for the part, though there was no confirmation on Disney’s part. Of course, Middleton’s comments aren’t an official confirmation. It does however speak volumes to the rumors and aforementioned negotiations, and would seem to suggest that Isaac will indeed suit up as mystic mercenary Marc Spector for the series.
Besides Middleton’s newly revealed role as cinematographer, the Moon Knight series is to be directed by Mohamed Diab
With a starring role in the upcoming Metal Gear Solid film touted and his role in Denis Villeneuve’s Dune adaptation hitting screens this year, the momentum just keeps building for Isaac, hot off of the latest Star Wars trilogy. Making a name for himself with serious drama and interesting genre endeavors, here’s hoping the Moon Knight series takes off.
