Paddy Considine joins Edgar Wright for The World’s End

Paddy Considine will be reuniting with his Hot Fuzz director Edgar Wright and co-stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for The World’s End, the final instalment in their Three Colours Cornetto trilogy. The movie sees five ageing friends attempt to recreate a pub crawl of biblical proportions from their youth, ending up in the establishment of the title. To quote the official blurb: “As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s.”

Considine will play an architect with a past as a musician and womaniser, although no character name has been given. Rosamund Pike is also onboard as a former flame of protagonist Gary King, to be played by Pegg. Hot Fuzz doesn’t get as much love as Shaun Of The Dead, although for my money is at least that movie’s equal thanks to its brilliant supporting cast. If Considine gets lines half as brilliant as “It’s arright, Andy, it’s just bolognese!” or “Two blokes and a f**kload of cutlery!” in World’s End, it’ll be off the f**kin’ chain.
