Tired of Star Wars yet? Think that Disney is bleeding the franchise dry of all of its creativity and shoving out quantity instead of quality? Well too bad! In addition to a glut of Star Wars film shows releasing onto Disney+, Disney has also revealed that Patty Jenkins, the director of Wonder Woman 1984, will be directing a film set in the Star Wars universe titled Rogue Squadron.

Jenkins released a video on Twitter showing her suit up in a very familiar orange uniform as she talks about her father and his time as a fighter pilot. She says that the imagery of that stuck with her and she always wanted to make a movie to recapture that magic but was never able to until now. No release date has been announced for Rogue Squadron. We just know that it exists.
In other related news, Disney also just announced that Taika Waititi, the director of Jojo Rabbit and Thor: Ragnarok, will also be directing a new Star Wars feature film, though we know nothing about the project besides that he is attached to direct it. I didn’t think that any Taika Waititi news would be upstaged by a Rogue Squadron announcement, but there you go.
