Despite the fact that Edgar Wright left and crushed everyone’s very souls, Ant-Man turned out to be one of the more surprisingly fun films to come from Marvel. It did so well in fact that Marvel actually inserted a sequel into it’s already planned out Phase 3, Ant-Man and the Wasp. That sequel appears to be hunting for the same director as THR is reporting that Peyton Reed may return to direct the shrinking duo.
Reed was an interesting choice for Ant-Man given his background is more in romantic comedies, but it turned out that his ability to deftly handle multiple genres in a single film was exactly what the movie needed. His skills should be even more at play with the sequel, which is obviously going to be focusing on the relationship between Ant-Man and Wasp. That means more verbal sparring, more romance and probably more comedy and that starts to nestle quite nicely into Reed’s wheelhouse.
