Did you know there have been nine Hellraiser films? If you did, turn off SyFy and take a long, hard look at yourself and what has brought you to this point. If you didn’t, that’s because, like most, Hellraiser: Bloodline (the fourth film and the last to be released theatrically) was it for you.
Rumors that they were going for a PG-13 rating were thankfully debunked with the news that the guys behind the My Bloody Valentine remake will be helming the project. Writer Todd Farmer confirmed that he and MBV director Patrick Lussier will be activating their Wonder Twin powers to reboot Hellraiser, and we can expect an R-rating. Production is expected to begin early next year and we can all look forward to a late 2011/early 2012 release.
Here’s to hoping that the reboot will help make up for the last four movies and return Pinhead to his rightful place alongside Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface.
