By Rumblings of what Phil Lord and Chris Miller would be doing next after making everything awesome have been floating around. One of those rumbles, that they were going to do a Star Wars film, has come true. The pair will be directing a stand alone Han Solo film, which is probably the best news you’re going to hear all week.
The film, slated for release on May 25, 2015, will focus on the adventures of a young Han Solo. It will be one of the three origin spin-off stories being placed in the Star Wars Anthology section of the universe, which is away from the core tent pole films. A Han Solo film is pretty obvious, but with Lord and Miller at the helm things just got really exciting even if the brief plot description given isn’t.
The story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley.
