Pixar vying for “Best Picture” Oscar award with Toy Story 3

Pixar’s no longer content with just having a monopoly on the animation awards within the industry, and now that Toy Story 3 got the impressive reviews that, well, pretty much all of their movies do, they’re starting to get greedy. Maybe rightfully so. Walt Disney Studios Chairman Rich Ross had this to say in a recent interview:

“We’re going for the Best Picture win. We wanted to have the best movie and the reviews have clearly said that and it’s the number one box office hit of the year so I’m not sure why we would not go for it all,”

He goes on to point out that an animated film has never walked away with the top prize, and that Toy Story 3 is essentially the best shot they’ll have at it for some time. Why they didn’t push for this with Wall·E is beyond me, but to help their cause they plan on releasing Toy Story ads that reenact other famous film winners of the past, such as West Side Story, On The Waterfront, Shakespeare In Love, Silence Of The Lambs, Titanic, The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King

The first can be seen in the gallery below, with actual video ads promised for later as well.
