One of cinema’s biggest stars has died at the age of 79. Elizabeth Taylor, best known for her unusual and beautiful violet eyes, had been battling heart disease in the hosptial since February, finally succumbing to it earlier today. Ms. Taylor is as well known for her onscreen life, winning two Academy Awards, as she is for her infamous off-screen life, embodying the notion of “being famous for being famous.”
Her best role, in my opinion, was as Martha in Mike Nichols’s adaptation of Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf by Edward Albee, for which which she won her second Academy Award. She was truly one of the greatest movie stars ever to grace the silver screen.
