When the first trailer for Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge dropped, there was some understandable skepticism surrounding the project. The animation looks kind of cheap, and there was no bone-shattering action to get excited about. That all changes now, as we have our first look at the ultra-violence this tournament will boast–and it makes me feel like an adolescent boy smashing at a Playstation controller all over again.
We’re talking big blasts of blood and broken bones that absolutely showers the screen in a wonderful spectacle of over-the-top brutality. The cursing is ridiculous and juvenile and absolutely icing on the cake. I thought the chintzy value of the animation could give Mortal Kombat the look of a super violent Saturday morning cartoon, and that’s just what we have here. If nothing else, this looks fun as hell.
You could call it a Funtality–if you don’t want people to talk to you.
Look forward to seeing Scorpion skewer your screens when Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge gets over to VOD on April 12, 2020 before finishing on Blu-ray/DVD April 28.
