By A while back we shared some test footage from The Host 2, a sequel to the acclaimed 2006 Bong Joon-ho film. Word is that the sequel is now aiming at an early summer 2014 release. Production on the film should start relatively soon.
Yim Pil-sung (Doomsday Book) recently completed the film’s screenplay, which will involve two different creatures. The film will be helmed by first-timer Park Myeong-chan, whose background is in commercials. No word on if the scene in the test footage figures into Yim’s screenplay at all.
It should be interesting to see what happens in The Host 2. Yim’s contributions to Doomsday Book were zany and imaginative, which makes me wonder if that’ll be the tone of this sequel. By contrast, the first film was a darkly comic family revenge film. We’ll find out next year.
