As I sit here with tears streaming down my face trying to drink myself to death, I feel it is my responsibility to tell you: Darren Aronofsky will not direct The Wolverine.
I know. I’m sorry. Please take a moment. The adaptation of the Claremont/Miller Wolverine miniseries set in Japan will continue without Darren, whose skill as a director had this writer believing the film to have more potential than any other superhero film ever produced. I will go on record to say that amongst the spectacular art films and serious dramas set to debut in the coming years, it was still this film I was most excited for. The Wolverine would have been inconceivably awesome, and now I am devastated.
Reportedly, Darren has left the Fox project after learning that it would require him to be away from his family for a year filming in Japan. High radioactivity probably didn’t help things, either.
