By IMAX is totally the new 3D. Instead of hearing about every film landing in 3D we’re now seeing more and more action movies hop onto the branded IMAX experience. Next up is the new RoboCop, which has just been announced to be releasing on IMAX on February 7, the same day it opens in standard theaters.
The film wasn’t shot for IMAX meaning there won’t be any screenings on truly legitimate IMAX screens like Dark Knight Returns or Star Trek had, but it’s being digitally converted over to the branded IMAX theaters, which means it’s still going to look and sound better there. Of course a ticket will cost more too.
