With early reviews divided on The Rum Diary, Johnny Depp’s second trip through the mind of writer Hunter S. Thompson, now is a better time than any to drag out old rivalries which kept the novel from its motion picture treatment. Hunter checked himself out with a firearm back in 2005, but four years earlier was still enjoying himself enough to poke fun at the developmental Hell. In the video, you can view a recorded reading from one of Hunter’s collection of letters. In it, Thompson suggests this to be his most famous, or infamous, piece. Probably goes without saying this is not safe for work.
