We knew that Benjamin Walker would be playing the part of Honest Abe in the upcoming adaptation of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, but prior to today, we still had no clue who would fill the role of antagonist. Now, Total Film reports that British actor Rufus Sewell will be portraying Adam, Lincoln’s vampire nemesis. (Maybe it’s the vampire connection, but I can’t help thinking of the villain Adam from Buffy the Vampire Slayer.)
Other confirmed parts include Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Mary Todd Lincoln and Dominic Cooper as Lincoln’s mentor.
It’s a late casting, as director Timur Bekmambetov has already shooting the film and plan to release it in summer 2012. Still, with Sewell’s piercing eyes, he looks to make a fine villain, having already portrayed them in several other films.
I’m still having trouble believing we’re reporting news about a movie where Abraham Lincoln kills vampires.
