By It is kind-of mind boggling that Fox has taken so long to get a Gambit movie off the ground. The character is a fan favorite and perfect for film, and yet they’ve basically hobbled along for years now with the property. Thankfully Channing Tatum getting cast in the title role seems to have kick started things into gear, all be it a slow one: they finally have a director in the form of Rupert Wyatt.
Wyatt directed the surprisingly decent Rise of the Planet of the Apes so he has the skills, though his last outing, The Gambler, wasn’t all that great. With an October 7, 2016 release date already locked in Wyatt is going to have to get cracking if we want to see any exploding cards on time.
