SAG Awards announced providing little Oscar clarity

The Screen Actors Guild Awards are usually a good place to start if you want to see the way the Oscar winds are blowing. While the Golden Globes can give hints, SAG is made up of people who often also vote for the Oscars, meaning we get a bit more insight into what folks are thinking. However, this year has been crazy with critics guilds offering almost no consensus, movies get snubbed once and then loved next, and no solid insight into who is truly the best actor.

For instance The Shape of Water pulled a ton of Golden Globe noms, but couldn’t even muster a best ensemble SAG award (their best picture). Meanwhile The Post has been cropping up left and right given the names in it, but didn’t get a single nomination here. Meryl Streep didn’t get a nomination from a bunch of actors! What is the world coming to. Truly this is the end times.
