By The next film in the Saw franchise is a bit of an oddball. The movie is being directed by Darren Lynn Bousman, who did Saw II, III, and IV, it was written by the duo who did Jigsaw and it’s based on a story developed by Chris Rock (yes, that Chris Rock). When that news hit it wasn’t clear how involved Chris Rock was going to be but Bloody Disgusting is now confirming that Rock will star in the film, which started filming this week, alongside Samuel L. Jackson.
The movie is a continuation of the previous films but also a spin-off, which won’t focus on the main series storyline. It’s still a big mystery what we’re going to get out of it but I’m guessing it will be interesting. Rock must have had something killer to do with it if James Wan brought him on board or maybe it was just because he’s famous.
The 9th SAW film, which doesn’t have a name yet, will release on October 23, 2020.
