Genndy Tartakovsky is (finally) directing his first movie. Let’s rejoice about this glorious news, shall we? Wait a minute. Kevin James, Adam Sandler, David Spade, and Steve Buscemi are in this movie? Yay?
Sony announced today that Tartakovsky’s first movie will be titled Hotel Transylvania, a 3D family comedy, and that the all star voice cast will be backed up with performances by Fran Drescher, Cee Lo Green, Andy Samburg, and Molly Shannon. The plot sounds half-way decent, actually. Dracula (Sandler) runs a hotel where all the other classic movie monsters go to for vacation. Dracula’s daughter, Mavis, works at the hotel, and falls for a human (Sandburg). Really, all that matters is that Cee Lo Green will be playing a mummy.
While I’m happy to see that Tartakovsky is still getting work after his run on Dexter’s Laboratory and Samurai Jack, I’m a little nervous about this flick. It sounds fun, but it could be god-awful, too. Hopefully this is just a means to an end while Tartakovsky gathers funds for that Samurai Jack movie he promised a while back. Wouldn’t that be sweet?
