Now, as much as I love Will Ferrell movies, I really don’t get why Quentin Tarantino wants the French jerk from Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby in the same film as way-more-famous people like Jamie Foxx (Horrible Bosses), Christoph Waltz (The Green Hornet), Kerry Washington (Fantastic Four), Leonardo DiCaprio (Growing Pains), Samuel L. Jackson (Deep Blue Sea), Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Angels in the Outfield), Kurt Russell (Stick It), and Don Johnson (Nash Bridges). I’m pretty sure his fame level is right around the same place as whatever the hell a “RZA” is supposed to be.
Sasha Baron Cohen (seriously, what kind of name is that?) is in final negotiations to star in Django Unchained, a spaghetti western set in the South, as Scotty, a gambler who buys Jamie Fox’s character’s wife to have sex with her I guess and then Fox goes to get his revenge with a presumably-wacky German bounty hunter sidekick (played by Waltz). Sounds like Scotty is pretty important to the story, which further confounds me as to why QT didn’t cast a bigger name like Jerry O’Connell or Owen Wilson. If Cohen is lucky, this movie will open up some doors to bigger rolls for him.
I do have to say though, if you put a mustache on him, he looks kind of like Borat from Da Ali G Show.
