At this point the timeline for the Terminator franchise is all over the place. With films and television taking place in the far future, the near past, the near future, and the redone past it’s amazing the end of the last film wasn’t the universe imploding on itself in a paradox. And yet, we’re going to get more Terminator movies and they’re going to be in the same timeline as the casting shows.
As such you could imagine that the plot is going to be a big jumbled, timey-wimey mess. Not so fast says the Arnold to Business Insider!
“I think [James] Cameron and Tim [Miller] came up with a concept where they can continue on with the T-800 but make a whole new movie. What they are doing now with this one is basically to just take a few very basic characters, like Linda Hamilton’s character and my character, and dismiss everything else. Just move away from all these rules of the timeline and other characters.”
Errr… so not really the same timeline? Or maybe the same timeline, but then they diverge and we’re in a new timeline? Or maybe the timelines cross each other and we get a penguin terminator with eight arms and a laser beak? No wait, all the penguins will be dead in the future. OK, I’m not really sure what’s going on, but it’s sure to have the T-8000.
