Scott Cooper, the director behind the upcoming and very good looking Antlers, already has his next project in sight–and it’s another horror flick.
A Head Full of Ghosts will be Cooper’s next venture, an adaptation of the 2015 novel of the same name starring Margaret Qualley. The novel follows a young woman named Merry as she recounts and relives her experiences as an eight-year-old girl with a sister her family believed to be possessed.
It’s a very good novel that should lend itself well to a film adaptation, especially with its reliance on a TV crew who attempt to document Merry’s sister’s exorcism. The novel is tense, eerie, and open to interpretation. Hopefully Cooper’s vision will retain the same core.
This should come as a disappointment, though, to those hoping to see an Oz Perkins adaptation, especially since Gretel & Hansel was so gorgeous, if imperfect.
A Head Full of Ghosts has no filming date or anything yet, but Antlers will hit theaters on April 17, 2020.
