I’m not a guy who’s instantly drawn to biopics or films with Idris Elba in them, so I’m a little weary of the upcoming Nelson Mandela biopic, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom. It may be one of the Flixist staff’s most anticipated films of the holiday, but something seems just a bit off about this newest trailer for the film.
In this trailer we get a better look at Idris’s transformation into Mandela. From his younger years (as shown in the first trailer) to his old age (as finally revealed here). I’m sure it’ll be a powerful movie that may inspire some people, but in the wake of 12 Years a Slave and Parkland, Mandela might’ve taken his walk at the wrong time as there’s only room in the Oscar season for one big historical piece.
