Although I don’t really like The Purge because it never focused on cool crimes like eating zoo animals or naked jaywalking*, it’s got a wonderful premise that’s ripe for stories. And it looks like The Purge: Anarchy is going to use that premise to essentially pull an Escape From New York.
With this second trailer we have our plot. Frank Grillo plays a man who ends up trying to save folks during The Purge (a 12 hour period where crime is legal) and gets caught up in an auction where folks bid on who they want to hunt down and kill. The whole thing seems like the right kind of ridiculous. I can’t wait to see what this series can do when it’s not cooped up in a single area. The Purge: Anarchy does crimes July 18th.
