I, unlike my Flixist brethren, am infatuated with all things Scott Pilgrim. I, like my Flixist compadres, am a huge fan of Edgar Wright’s epic zombie flick Shaun of the Dead. As of today, the dissent amongst us has finally been mended.
For his entry into the Jameson/Empire (hmm, Jameson) Done in 60 Seconds competition, animator Phil Askins decided to combine a 60 second recap of Shaun of the Dead with the stylistics of Bryan Lee O’Malley’s Scott Pilgrim series. The result: A giant wad of awesomeness that sends my heart a flutter.
I’m at a loss for words. It’s not because I spent most of last night drinking with Maxwell Roahrig (welcome to NY buddy!), but rather because this recap is, simply put, all kinds of awesome. It didn’t seem to even place in the competition, which is a damn shame considering it’s … well … yea it’s frickin’ awesome. Stop wasting your time reading this and check out the spoiler-ridden* recap above.
*if you haven’t seen Shaun of the Dead yet, there’s no hope for you.
