With Shia LaBeouf apparently out of the forthcoming Transformers sequels — to be replaced by Jason Statham — he may be pursuing a different role: that of a 20-foot-tall giant in a quirky love story.
The movie’s working title is A Giant, and is being developed by Gil Kenan (Monster House, City of Ember). A Giant is unfortunately not a prequel or sequel to My Giant, which starred Billy Crystal and NBA tall guy Gheorghe Mureşan. (In a perfect world, though…) Rather, the movie will focus on a girl who’s had bad luck in life and love. When she moves back home to reconnect with her brother, she winds up striking up a rapport with the 20-foot-tall man-child who lives next door.
This seems like the kind of role that would be perfect for Brian Posehn, Patton Oswalt, Nick Frost, or any other dorky yet likable actor/comedian, though LaBeouf does have more draw power at the box office. In a perfect world, though…
