British publication The Sun is reporting that work on the upcoming Bond 25 has been suspended after star Daniel Craig sustained an injury on set. According to the newspaper, Craig fell while sprinting on set in Jamaica. An unnamed source told the publication, “He was sprinting during filming when he slipped and fell quite awkwardly. He was in quite a lot of pain and was complaining about his ankle.”
Craig was flown to the United States for X-rays shortly after, which has resulted in a suspension of shooting. It is unknown how long production will be halted, though it seems a shoot set for London’s Pinewood Studios has now been cancelled. We’ll likely learn more about the injury in the coming days.
With all of the trouble surrounding Bond 25, from changes in directors to writers being fired and rehired, a suspension is likely driving Eon Productions and MGM Universal crazy. I have a sinking feeling that the end result isn’t going to be worth the hassle, though I will commend Craig for doing his best at his age. I know I wouldn’t want to be sprinting around in foreign lands at 51 years old, so I give him props for putting himself on the line.
