Monday Night Football was graced this week with a new trailer for Star Trek: Picard. The trailer doesn’t tell us much about the plot of the show, but we do get some good footage of William Ryker, Deanna Troi, and Seven of Nine. My nostalgia senses are tingling.
We see Deanna and Will together in a home. It’s probable that their marriage has stood the test of time. I wonder if we will see children from them. Seven of Nine shows her ass-kicking side by dual-wielding rifles in combat. We see alien ships flying towards a planet. There is a shot of what looks like prisoners in a facility with numbers stamped on their foreheads.
The main takeaway from this trailer is that Jean-Luc is deadly serious about protecting a girl whose identity remains a mystery to us. He insists that he will do what must be done, with the implication that this is regardless of consequence. Another officer indicates that “everything is at stake.” I am certain that drama will abound in this show. I cannot wait. Of course, even after I see this, I’ll have to wait further still for the recently announced second season.
Star Trek: Picard streams on CBS All Access on January 23rd.
