It’s been more than a year since we last heard anything about Kevin Feige’s Star Wars project, but it seems things are starting to take shape. In a new report from Deadline, the publication has confirmed that veteran Marvel writer Michael Waldron is now on board to pen the script for this latest trek into the galaxy far, far away. Waldron may not be immediately familiar to Marvel fans, but he wrote the upcoming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and will be executive producing the Disney+ series Loki.
Along with the confirmation of Waldron’s involvement, Disney also announced that it has signed a long term contract with the man. That should ensure that Waldron will be attached to Loki for however many seasons it ends up running. It could also single that Feige may expand his Star Wars film into a trilogy with a single writer under the helm, something that the recent sequel trilogy could have done with.
For the time being, it’s hard to say what Waldron’s involvement will result in. His recent past sees him involved with Rick & Morty, and the Starz program Heels. That’s a pretty decent pedigree if you ask me. Hopefully, he can channel some of that acclaim into a bold new future for the sci-fi series that will satiate fans across the globe…though we know Star Wars fans will never be happy.
