Star Wars: Rogue One now has a synopsis

I don’t know if you know, but those Star Wars movies are kinda a big deal at the moment. There was a new trailer for Star Wars; The Force Awakens that the internet is still dissecting line by line, there’s a new video game that’s surely going to disappoint us, and now there’s plot details for Gareth Edward’s Rogue One. With all this hot news coming out of the Star Wars Celebration, one wonders if they actually fit in any time to celebrate Star Wars.

My reaction to this Star Wars fever was mostly to get bummed out about the current dire state of Star Trek, but I can share in the excitement in a few key ways, and Rogue One is most definitely one of them. The short synopsis was revealed yesterday:

“A band of resistance fighters unite for a daring mission to steal the Death Star plans in Star Wars anthology film, Rogue One”

I had a bunch of jokes about Bothans dying, but I’m told that’s actually the second Death Star, so I’ve been outed as a Fake Star Wars Boy. I loved Edward’s Godzilla, and to make it even better for me, this whole film is being described as a more grounded take on Star Wars, one where “The absence of the Jedi hangs over the movie.” Anything that means less Jedi nonsense and more cool space combat is good in my book. At this point, I can’t wait until The Force Awakens gets out of the way, so I can enjoy this film instead.
