Steven Soderbergh retires

Deadline reports that on a podcast with NFL Network’s Rich Eisen, director Steven Soderbergh announced his plan for retirement. But don’t worry folks, he still has a couple of projects on his slate before becoming a hermit.

Before his retirement, Soderbergh is working with Michael Douglas and Matt Damon on the biopic Liberace. He is also planning to work with George Clooney on The Man from U.N.C.L.E., which may be his last movie. Oh, and all of that is right after he just wrapped on action-thriller Contagion with Damon and Marion Cotillard, as well as Haywire starring Channing Tatum and Ewan McGreggor.

Honestly? I don’t see him retiring for good. As the Deadline post says, he might be pulling a Brett Favre. You know, weaving in and out of retirement as he pleases. I’m a recent fan of Soderbergh’s, and I hope he makes more movies. But who am I to tell him how to live his life? Why don’t you readers do that in the comments?
