Sundance 2013: We’re here and freezing

0

One year, one poorly packed suitcase, and one regretful purchase of one $200 coat at American Apparel later, Sundance is here again and here I am in it, freezing and happy. 2012 was my first year as honest-to-goodness press at Sundance — in 2007, I attended as clueless-college-freshman press — and it was an unforgettable experience. I never enjoyed sitting quietly in a small room with strangers so much. The quality of films, element of surprise (what other debut film premiered at a film festival and made it’s way to the Oscars?), and charming yet brutal environment makes Sundance my favorite time of year.

This Sundance, I’ll be covering the festival solo again with plans to see over thirty films (last year: 27). Expect reviews, recaps, news, and other Sundance related content, starting off with my top ten most anticipated films which will go up later today.

Tomorrow morning (if the wifi gods smile down on me), I’ll have reviews up for murder mystery doc Who is Dayani Cristal? and a Spanish film starring Micheal Cera (yeah) by the name of Crystal Fairy. That’s right: I’m doubling down on dem crystalz. The question is: Do I sneak in Crystal Head vodka or Crystal Light into the theater?
