They’re baaaaaaack! Or, rather, they’re here, since Minions serves as a prequel.
Arguably the best characters in the Despicable Me franchise finally have their own film, and I couldn’t be more excited. In Minions, we’re going to learn a bit more about their origins. For example, did you know that they accidentally killed every master they’ve ever had? Oops!
The Super Bowl ad was, to me, simultaneously exciting and disappointing. It’s great to see footage of the Minions enjoying the Super Bowl, but I was hoping for a tiny bit of new footage. I’ve always wondered how much time topically relevant ads like this take to create, though. I realize that Minions was likely completed a while ago, but wouldn’t it have been easier, quicker, and cheaper to just feature new footage of the film? With an audience this large, I can’t help but feel this ad missed the mark just a bit.
Minions will be taking over your theater on July 10th, 2015.
