For some bizarre reason, the 2020 flop Tenet will be opening up at select theaters in NYC this Friday. Warner Bros. announced the news to various publications and confirmed that filmgoers will finally have the chance to see Christopher Nolan’s “masterpiece” on the big screen in 2021. This is all thanks to Governor Cuomo lifting restrictions on COVID, which goes against what health officials are saying.
If you’re incredibly reckless and absolutely need to see Tenet at the cinema, you’ll be able to do so at AMC Lincoln Square, AMC Empire, AMC Kips Bay, Village East by Angelika, and Showcase Cinemas Jamaica starting on March 5, 2021. A week later on March 12, an IMAX version will be available at AMC Lincoln Square. From the tone of this article, you can likely tell that I would advise against going, but I’m not your father.
Thankfully, some COVID restrictions are still in place and theaters will be limited to 25% capacity or 50 filmgoers. That should give you ample space to sit away from someone else, but I really don’t know why you’d want to risk your safety to see Tenet. With the film already available on UHD Blu-Ray and digital rental services, just rent the damn thing and stay safe. Don’t be an idiot for a mediocre film.
