I’m really hoping this isn’t a false alarm, but tickets for Christopher Nolan’s hotly anticipated Tenet are going on sale at 9am tomorrow in the UK. After months of push-backs that have all but delayed the release indefinitely, we’re now a step closer to seeing the hailed cinematic masterpiece on 26 August. Be still, my bookmarked tabs — you will have your time!
UK chains including Showcase, Cineworld, indie favourite Picturehouse and the BFI IMAX have been tweeting that a 35mm print of the film is available and that the chains can now begin to announce their screenings. There is also talk of digital screenings, and a dedicated website, www.tenetfilmtickets.co.uk, which UK viewers can use to find local screenings and tickets.

Tenet will be making its way to an international audience before it reaches the US, and while it’s unfortunate that the film isn’t available everywhere on first release, it’s bound to impress (unless you’re especially inclined to dislike the film, in which case, I don’t want to know.) Distributor Warner Bros haven’t yet made clear when the film will release in the US, but a first look is definitely in order for fans who have endured multiple false-starts.
To recap, Tenet tells the story of a high-octane international espionage, with characters ‘trying to prevent World War III’ with world-bending tech. Led by frontman John David Washington and helmed by a searing cast including Robert Pattinson, Elizabeth Debicki, Clémence Poésy, and Michael Caine, it’s going to be huge.
Screenings have looked a bit different this summer (if they’re happening at all) with visitor numbers significantly reduced, and this will likely have a knock-on effect on the total box office takings. However, for a film as talked-about as Tenet, I can’t see this getting in fans’ way. Get me in line!
