The 2018 Tribeca Film Festival starts this week on Wednesday, April 18th, running until Sunday, April 29th. Now in its 17th year, the latest installment of the Tribeca Film Festival will screen 96 feature films from 103 filmmakers from around the world. The lineup includes 74 world premieres, a showcase of virtual reality and augmented reality experiences, a spotlight on new shows coming to TV and streaming services, special appearances by filmmakers and stars, and much more.
The key screenings over the course of the festival include:
- Opening Night Film: Love, Gilda – Lisa D’Apolito’s documentary about beloved comedian and SNL alum Gilda Radner.
- Centerpiece Film: Zoe – Drake Doremus’ dystopian love story starring Léa Seydoux and Ewan McGregor
- Closing Night Film: The Fourth Estate – Liz Garbus’ documentary about The New York Times in the age of Trump
Other notable programming during the festival:
- Premieres of Westworld Season Two and YouTube’s Karate Kid sequel series Cobra Kai
- An anniversary screening of Scarface with Brian De Palma, Al Pacino, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Steven Bauer in attendance
- An anniversary screening of Schindler’s List with Steven Spielberg, Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, and Embeth Davitz in attendance
- The world premiere of Steven Sebring’s documentary Horses: Patti Smith and her Band, followed by a live set by Patti Smith and her Band
