[For the next few weeks Flixist will be covering the 2011 New York Film Festival. We’ll be bringing you reviews of some of the hottest and/or most obscure films we can find, so make sure to come back and check out all the festival has to offer here.]
Festivals are going on everywhere right about now, and we here at Flixist are bringing you coverage of four of them over the next month. We have been bringing you news from Austin’s Fantastic Fest and news of the Chicago International Film Festival, and now we bring you news of a third. The 49th New York Film Festival will be held starting this Friday and ending on October 16th. Taking place at five different theaters in Lincoln Center, there are going to be a whole lot of screenings. Opening with Roman Polanski’s Carnage; ending with Alexander Payne’s The Descendents; and featuring films like Melancholia, Miss Bala, Shame, and The Artist, it looks to be a pretty good selection.
Also on the docket are some special screenings, like 10th Anniversary screenings of The Royal Tenenbaums and Spirited Away(!!!), plus screenings of films like The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension and even an appearance by Willem Dafoe(!!!!!!).
