By Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises has been given a PG-13 by the MPAA for “intense sequences of violence and action, some sensuality and language.” For the myriad couples who began their first dates by seeing Batman Begins (“intense action violence, disturbing images and some thematic elements”) and concluded it with an impulsive marriage proposal, then celebrated their third anniversary over drinks and The Dark Knight (“intense sequences of violence and some menace”) before absconding to the bedroom, their hopes of bringing their four-year-old to the premiere of an anomalously child-friendly film this July while remaining respectable parents have been, sadly, dashed.
I know what you’re thinking. “Sensuality”? That’s a new one. Looks like Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman may end up producing a bit more romantic chemistry than the previous entries in the trilogy have seen from prudish Rachel Dawes or Michael Caine’s seductively paternal Alfred. (Or the trailer scene showing Batman captured by Bane is slightly different than implied.)
The news was spotted on Warner Bros.’ exhibitor site and conforms to the rating given to last year’s six-minute prologue that led IMAX screenings of Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol. In related news: Hobbit Blog Video Update!
