By We already knew that that Sylvester Stallone would not be returning to direct the sequel to 2009’s The Expendables, but thanks to the fine folks over at Deadline, we now know the person who will be sitting in the director’s chair when filming begins — Simon West. West, who is probably best known for helming action flicks like The Mechanic, Lara Croft: Tomb Raider, and Con Air, will now be tasked with running the show on The Expendables 2, which I imagine isn’t much more difficult than asking awesome people to be awesome.
The last time I posted about The Expendables 2, I was pretty transparent in my enthusiasm for the first film. This news doesn’t really damper that feeling, especially since West has a lot of experience making movies about murder and explosions, even if Matt didn’t particularly like his last movie.
