After achieving unprecedented and career-topping success with his score for The Lord of the Rings, The Province reports that composer Howard Shore will join Peter Jackson once again for The Hobbit. The Canadian maestro’s iconic LoTR score, which won him two Academy Awards for Best Original Score, as well as an Oscar for Best Original Song, has had a life of it’s own. To date, the score has been performed over 160 times at various world-class venues since the first concert was held in 2003.
“We’ve talked about making these movies for many years, at least since 2002,” Shore says. “It looks like finally it’s going to be happening. I’ll be working on it for the next three years — it’s going to consume a lot of my time and work.”
Take your time, Howard. We know you’re good for it.
