Back in 1970, when Sylvester Gardenzio Stallion was a spritely 24-year old all full of hopes and dreams and other stuff, he was paid a princely $200 for his first starring role in The Italian Stallion.
Only it’s not what you think. It’s worse than you could ever imagine. According to Variety, the original negatives were recently sold at an eBay auction for the staggering price of $412,100. Expect the news to emerge any day now that the buyer was a Mr. S. Stallone, whose other recent investments include a very large furnace. At least whoever the buyer is can reassure themselves that their spending almost half a million dollars on a film as bad as The Italian Stallion will almost certainly prove to be a more enjoyable investment than anyone who pays $3.95 for a copy of Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot from Amazon.
