The King’s Man stumbles to an August 2021 release

The King's Man

Another day, another delay. In a not so surprising move, 20th Century Studios (which is, by extension, Disney) announced that The King’s Man would be getting pushed to August 20, 2021, which is roughly six months from its previously scheduled March 12, 2021, date. If you can believe it, this was done in response to MGM delaying No Time To Die yesterday, which appears to have been a catalyst for other studios to follow suit.

Along with The King’s Man, several other 20th Century and Searchlight films were also delayed. Ron’s Gone Wrong? That’s now on track for an October 22, 2021, release. The Night House? July 16, 2021. Nightmare Alley? December 3, 2021. Antlers? October 29, 2021. The Eyes of Tammy Faye? September 24, 2021. While all of the aforementioned films will still see a release this year, the upcoming Bob’s Burgers film adaptation has been completely removed from 20th Century’s schedule.

Surprisingly, Black Widow has not received a delay. Against all odds, Marvel will be sticking to its May 7, 2021, release. This will also leave films like Shang-Chi and The Eternals on the schedule, though I have a feeling we’ll be hearing something very soon. I wouldn’t expect a Disney+ launch, but there is no way Marvel is going to encourage people to potentially die just to see one of its projects.
