If you haven’t been privy to the news, Warner Bros. is developing an animated movie based on the world famous brand of LEGO toys. What could have been just a simple cash in has instead been attaching some serious stars to the project, with Will Ferrell, Liam Neeson, Allison Brie (whom I’m in love with), and Nick Offerman having joined the cast that already inlcuded Morgan Freeman, Chris Pratt, Elizabeth Banks, and Will Arnett. With all of those names I don’t even need to know what the movie is about at this point, but for everyone else Deadline has a bit of a synopsis:
The plot follows Emmet (Pratt), an ordinary, rules-following, perfectly average Lego minifigure who is mistakenly identified as the most extraordinary person and the key to saving the world. He is drafted into a fellowship of strangers on an epic quest to stop an evil tyrant. Ferrell will play Emmet’s primary adversary, President Business; Neeson is the president’s powerful henchman, Bad Cop; Offerman is a craggy, swaggering pirate obsessed with revenge on President Business; and Brie is a member of Emmet’s team with a powerful secret.
The animated film will be directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, known for also directing 21 Jump Street, and more relevantly, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs, and is slated for a February, 2014 release date.
