We’re mere weeks away from Disney+’s hotly anticipated November 12th launch, which means one thing to me: Almost time for The Mandalorian.
The Jon Favreau-curated series is no doubt the spearhead title in Disney’s crusade into the streaming wars, and the series looks to create quite a stirrup. Premiering November 12th, with its second episode days later on the 15th (as per the release schedule provided by Disney), the series will follow the titular gunfighter (Pedro Pascal) as he navigates the seedier sides of the galaxy, after the fall of the Empire and before the rise of the New Order. That’s between Episode VI and VII, for the less-obsessed.
The cast is rounded out with the likes of Carl Weathers, Gina Carano, Werner Herzog, and Giancarlo Esposito, with a slew of talent behind the camera as well. Dave Filoni, Taika Waititi, and Bryce Dallas Howard, among others, are set to direct episodes of the eight episode first season.
With a second season already in the works, Disney is banking on their helmeted-hero drawing the crowds, They certainly have me excited. (I, for the first time in more than a decade, am clamoring to buy a Star Wars action figure, is how excited I am.) With The Rise of Skywalker hitting the big screen a bit more than a month after The Mandalorian‘s premiere, and a brand new AAA game coming out that same week, there’s a lot of Star stuff to be excited for.
