Some new news has surfaced about a scene in The Muppets…Again! During an episode of BBC’s The Film Programme, production designer Eve Stewart — fresh from her BAFTA Film Award win for Les Miserables — revealed what she’s working on next:
Stewart: I’m now at Pinewood doing the Muppet show, and today has been one of the best days of my life, designing Miss Piggy’s wedding at the Tower of London.
BBC: Are you allowed to say that?
Stewart: Yes! I’ve never been so happy.
This isn’t the first Miss Piggy wedding. The most notable and memorable one is from The Muppets Take Manhattan, though previous wedding shenanigans with Miss Piggy also occurred on The Muppet Show (the John Cleese and Marisa Berenson episodes).
Should be interesting to see what this Muppets…Again! scene will involve. If it’s just a repeat of something we’ve seen in the past, I’ll probably wind up being more cynical than nostalgic. The Muppets was a nostalgia overload already, so my main hope is that this sequel finds its own voice rather than playing the old hits.
After the cut, a clip from the closing song and dance number from The Muppets Take Manhattan.
