Are you people happy now? After all the fervor, Marvel Studios officially unveiled the first trailer for the follow-up to Avengers: Infinity War. It feels a bit more of a teaser—it doesn’t show much, but to be quite honest, that’s the way I wanted it.
The trailer itself has a bit of a somber tone, with Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) recording a message for his beloved Pepper Potts (Gwenyth Paltrow), and Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) shedding a single, manly tear. Clint Barton aka Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) is back, and uh, he looks more angry than upset—dude’s got a sword now. But to sum up, everyone (left) is here, and everyone is sad and desperate.
We see Nebula (Karen Gillan), Bruce Banner (Mark Ruffalo), and Thor (Chris Hemsworth) as well, but we don’t get a look at other confirmed survivors such as Rhodes (Don Cheadle) or Rocket (the voice of Bradley Cooper). I’m not too surprised that they didn’t show anything of Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) since her damn movie isn’t out yet, and we got a trailer with her literally just this week.
It’s serviceable, at least to keep the fans at bay. You don’t want to show way too much for such a movie shrouded in mystery, which is telling given how the title isn’t actually in the name of the trailer video. The title itself though doesn’t inspire too many feelings. It’s one that many have guessed and that directors Joe and Anthony Russo denied, so it feels like it was plucked out of a few options at the last minute. At least the movie will be hella long.
But hey, it’s coming April 26, 2019, instead of its original release date of May 3, just like how Avengers: Infinity War came earlier. That’s pretty dope if you ask me. Check out the poster below.
