I am hyped for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part because it looks like it’s basically the first movie, but more. Most of the time when a movie is just the first movie but more things go wrong. Jokes get recycled, characters get dull, plots get old. The beauty of LEGO, as illustrated by the relentless onslaught of surprisingly good games, is that there’s always some new way to build it despite using the same pieces.
Well, I landed that little metaphor pretty well so I think I’m going to pull a Costanza and just leave while I’m on top. Watch the trailer or something.
The LEGO Movie: The Second Part releases in theaters nationwide on February 8, 2019.
