Tony Jaa’s comeback movie Tom Yum Goong 2 (aka The Protector 2) is back on track after a lot of delays. The film, which also stars Dan Chupong and female badass JeeJa Yanin, is now slated to come out May 2013. They were originally aiming for a December 2012 release. Shooting began way back in August 2011.
The new release date comes with some crazy-ass casting news. The RZA has a “featured part” in the film. Twitch notes that Marrese Crump (RZA’s stunt double from The Man with the Iron Fists) has been part of Tom Yum Goong 2‘s cast since the beginning. There’s also rumor that an international fighter has been asked to make an appearance in the movie. Twitch is waiting on confirmation before reporting who it is. Since Jaa is going to collaborate with Sammo Hung, Wu Jing, and possibly Donnie Yen on an SPL sequel, I’m hoping it’s one of them.
In the gallery is a new poster for Tom Yum Goong 2. Look for it next year (if it doesn’t get delayed again).
